Action Plan Download
Massachusetts developed its statewide action plan committing to a core set of values and creating cross-cutting goals through the eight domains of livability. The plan's priority is to focus on areas where the Commonwealth can successfully drive systems change, fill gaps, and amplify local work already completed or underway. Its goals include strengthening age- and dementia-friendly efforts to be inclusive of all populations, communicating information in an accessible manner, reframing aging from a challenge to an asset, increasing literacy about aging-related issues, and eliminating ageist images and expressions in media. The plan encourages the adoption of age-friendly policies and practices in all sectors, taking specific actions to improve economic security of older adults and caregivers and leveraging existing structures to sustainably guide and support the work of Age-Friendly Massachusetts and partner initiatives.
