Action Plan Download
Wakefield developed its action plan with the goal of making it a community for all residents, especially those who are aging. The community has prioritized both physical and social improvements and has committed to engaging all members of the general population. The plan aims to provide services and programs to all ages and abilities while also providing access to community buildings and structures without barriers.
Action Plan Highlights
Transportation
Improve pedestrian and transit infrastructure for older adults by ensuring that bus shelters and benches are available throughout the community and by installing additional electronic crosswalk signal pads.Outdoor Spaces
Prioritize the needs of older adults and those with disabilities in park design and programs by expanding outdoor spaces for recreational and passive uses, and developing new programming for people of all ages.Civic Participation and Employment
Support older resident participation in community organizations and workforce by promoting volunteer opportunities in the community, offering job interview and resume review programs, and developing a plan to work with local businesses to inform and educate them on the benefits of hiring an older workforce.
