Action Plan Download
The Cape Ann Region developed its action plan with the goal of building upon existing regional networks to foster a more age- and dementia-friendly region. To structurally integrate the age- and dementia-friendly initiatives, the region chose to create a single framework consisting of Ten Areas of Focus - these include the 8 Domains of Livability along with the areas of Community & Business Support and Legal & Advanced Planning. The plan also follows 5 Guiding Themes: Reinforcing a regional approach; Education on aging, ageism, and dementia; Intergenerational Connections; Caregiving; and Veterans.
Action Plan Highlights
Transportation
Convene a transportation work group representing key stakeholders from each community, conduct a community inventory of transportation options, conduct a regional transportation forum, and improve older adults' knowledge of existing transportation options.Housing
Conduct a community inventory of existing housing options on Cape Ann to better identify gaps and advocate for needed services, research innovative housing models and financing options that may improve housing, investigate viability of 'creative' options such as intergenerational roommates, tiny homes, and the Village model, advocate for more affordable housing, and support older adults' ability to age in place.Communication and Information
Establish a working group to develop best practices, review current systems and investigate best practices to better streamline information systems, review and determine communications best practices, and develop a regional, centralized marketing plan.
