Action Plan Download

An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.

Action Plan Highlights

  1. Housing

    Encourage age-friendly housing development, including construction of smaller homes and new assisted living and supportive housing options.

  2. Transportation

    Secure funding to construct new bike lanes and expand multiuse routes.

  3. Outdoor Spaces

    Make public outdoor spaces more welcoming by providing weather-protected seating and constructing intergenerational playgrounds.

Description: Older adults in affordable housing often lacked tools and knowledge to make their homes safe, leaving them vulnerable to accidents and isolation. The project offered workshops on home safety and technology, installed video doorbell cameras and worked with maintenance teams to ensure compliance with housing rules. Residents reported feeling safer and more independent. One mother said the video doorbell gave her peace of mind and allowed her autistic daughter to stay home alone briefly, reducing stress and improving daily life.

WalkUP Roslindale (2025)

Project Category: Walk Audits

Description: This project aims to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility in Roslindale Square through three walk audits and two community meetings. It will focus on sidewalk, crosswalk, and signage improvements.
