Action Plan Download
Swampscott developed its action plan with the goal of becoming a more livable community for all residents to grow up and grow older together. The initiative intends to create a town in which older adults are sought out to be included and consulted on community projects, planning initiatives and all aspects of city life. The plan focuses on creating safe, affordable and well-designed housing that can be adapted as residents age, contributing to independence, security and quality of life. The plan also looks to expand affordable, accessible transportation, including that provided by the Senior Center, which allows residents to freely travel around the town and region, promotes participation, helps maintain networks and supports equity of mobility.
Action Plan Highlights
Housing
Promote more affordable housing opportunities by increasing public discourse around affordable housing for older adults, increasing community connections to older adult housing developments, and reviewing current zoning regulations to identify opportunities to create more alternative housing options.
