Action Plan Download

An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.

    Assess if zoning should be updated through a shared housing pilot research study.

    Support the expansion of rural transportation services and a coordinated county-wide transportation system.

  3. Respect and Inclusion

    Share personal stories of aging throughout the community via a video-based interview program.

Progress Report Download

Larimer County's progress report focuses on supporting age-friendly housing options, expanding rural transportation and ensuring older adults are respected and included. The County offered home assessments and services to families to help them age in place and educated residents about missing middle housing. They also published a handbook informing residents of mobile home parks about their rights, as well as resources available to them. The local age-friendly initiative conducted outreach to rural residents to understand their mobility needs and created a transportation resource guide. Additionally, community programming -- including candidate forums, art and storytelling projects and technology training --prevent social isolation among older adults.

Project Category: Community Gardens

Description: This project made improvements to the Estes Valley Community Garden. The EVCG added six raised garden beds to make planting and harvesting comfortable for older gardeners and those with physical limitations. Project organizers also constructed a green waste storage box, which allows gardeners to toss their weeds rather than carry them home. Additionally, gardeners and visitors benefit from a new handwashing station, installed to increase safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project contributed to EVCG's ongoing efforts to donate plots and produce to a local food bank. Project organizers report the improvements attracted partners to the EVGC's new diversity initiative.

Project Category: Innovative home maintenance, repair and support services

Description: This project will host DIY repair workshops for homeowners in mobile home parks. It will also develop a neighborhood business guide to promote shopping locally.
