Action Plan Download
Pinellas County developed its action plan by first identifying existing programs and services available to older adults within the community. After a comprehensive outreach effort, the county broke down every major sector of its jurisdiction and applied an aging lens to all existing work--from airport redevelopment, to animal services, to waste and real estate management.
Action Plan Highlights
Outdoor Spaces
Enhance access to public spaces such as airports, parks, and buildings for older adults, especially pet owners.Housing
Advocate for workforce housing for older adults, including less conventional options like homeshare programs, online housing search sites, and community land trusts.Health and Community Services
Utilize grants and community partner resources to help older adults, particularly lower income residents, prepare for a disasters and learn safe shelter-in-place procedures.
