Action Plan Download
An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.
Action Plan Highlights
TransportationThe action plan aims to improve transportation for older adults and adults with disabilities by expanding wheelchair accessibility and identifying specialty transportation options. Additionally, recruiting volunteer drivers and running more public transit service on nights and weekends. Coordination with the Communications Work Group to develop a community outreach and education program about transportation resources and driver safety is included, as well as conducting mobility assessments.
Social ParticipationThe objective is to create a stronger community through social opportunities that are inclusive for older adults. The plan aims to expand awareness and access to resources and information for older adults, families, caregivers, and community agencies/businesses. The plan also addresses barriers to inclusion and promotes intergenerational opportunities.
Communication and InformationThe city aims to improve access to information and resources for older adults by educating the community and organizing a resource navigation event. They also plan to assess existing systems and develop new educational programs for older adults.
