The vision for Wausau is to create an age-friendly community where all residents can remain and thrive as they age, and where daily life is healthy, safe and comfortable with intergenerational relationships. Values include respect, inclusion, community involvement, and utilizing existing services. Initial efforts will focus on outdoor spaces and buildings, transportation, housing, and social participation.

Outdoor Spaces
The objective is to fully expand the RiverWalk trail along the Wisconsin River in a way that is completely accessible.Transportation
The city plans to improve alternative transportation options by supporting bike paths and sidewalk improvements through the Bike and Pedestrian Committee. Additionally, the city plans to apply for a transportation grant to implement off-road trails and paths as per the Economic Development Committee's resolution.Social Participation
The city aims to support senior-focused services and amenities such as The Landing senior center and service clubs like Optimists and Rotary, to connect and engage seniors in social activities. The city also plans to increase intergenerational classes and activities that connect seniors with youth.
