Tallahassee developed its action plan to focus on increasing opportunities to make residents aware of the existing services and resources for older adults already available in the community. The plan identifies a number of existing projects, programs, activities, and events that fall under the four primary categories of health and wellness, transportation, housing, and communication awareness and information. The plan identifies a key role for the Tallahassee Senior Center in oversight and monitoring of the age-friendly work, with the success of the plan depending on collaborations between city staff, private and non-profit partners, and older adults.

Tallahassee's age-friendly progress report shows the City's commitment to public transportation, walkability, aging in place and employment and volunteerism. The City worked to improve sidewalks, crosswalks and bus stops, with a focus on accessibility. They also offered public transit training to help residents navigate the local bus system. Additionally, they improved wayfinding signage to help people navigate around the community. The City is also working to expand home repair assistance programs to reach more older adults. They drafted development requirements for affordable housing construction and revised the zoning code to allow accessory dwelling units on single-family-home lots. Additionally, the City held a job and volunteering expo and is hoping to build a new senior center.
