Oneida County developed its action plan by first recognizing the importance of encouraging and promoting age-friendly planning and policies to address changing demographics and enhance independent living. The county is committed to a process of continual improvement to support active and healthy aging and sustain economic and social vitality. The County write its action plan with the input of residents from rural areas and urban centers, addressing all eight domains of livability: outdoor Spaces and Buildings, Transportation, Housing, Social Participation, Respect and Social Inclusion, Work and Civic Engagement, Communication and Information; and Community and Health Services.

Identify barriers that prevent older adults from inclusive engagement in public policy and practice.Housing
Facilitate aging in place by developing a home repair service for older adults. Create a database of local organizations and service providers across the county, as well as a learning collaborative that trains professionals, students and volunteers to provide home repair services targeted towards older residents.Health and Community Services
Promote emergency planning that takes into account the vulnerabilities and capacities of older people.
