Action Plan
Hartford developed its action plan by thinking through three different types of projects: on-going projects and activities that are already in place or are being put into place now, that will continue be supported by this Initiative, projects that will be completed and/or moved to 'sustaining' status by the end of the period covered by the plan, and projects that are complicated and long-term, requiring multiple phases and many resources to be accomplished. This work includes a focus on the natural environment, a focus on the built environment, and collaborating with partners and stakeholders.
Action Plan Highlights
Transportation
Promote pedestrian safety, walkability, access, and transportation diversity by improving crosswalks, building a two-mile universal trail network, and developing a volunteer-based driving program.Communication and Information
Help older residents connect with a friendly voice through a "Morning Greeting Call" program.Health and Community Services
Ensure that older adults have access to information on available health services through a comprehensive online directory. Incorporate dementia-friendly concepts into local community planning.
