Carbon County developed its action plan with the goal of being a safe, vibrant community that is inclusive of all ages and abilities. The plan is focused on addressing aging-related concerns identified by the community, respecting and considering all ideas, supporting people of all means and abilities, prioritizing working with existing community assets, and making decision based on community input and feedback. The community's efforts center on enhancing existing transportation services and addressing issues around housing and communication.
Action Plan Highlights
Transportation
Create more access to local services and businesses by enhancing transportation services around the county.Communication and Information
Enhance county-wide communications through a hard copy and web-based directory that provides an efficient and up-to-date resource to help the community easily link to local services, and a health fair and expo that provides demonstrations of yoga, massage, tai chi, and Zumba, as well as blood draws and vaccinations, information from Alcoholics Anonymous and mental health counseling to local sustainability efforts and senior center activities.Housing
Focus on aging in place and other older adult housing needs by expanding on existing resources and programs that help with downsizing, co-living, home repairs upgrading and paying bills, and working closely with other local workforce housing partnerships in the area.
