Action Plan Download
Arnold developed its action plan by first creating a commission that included representatives from local government, members of the older adult and disability communities, and representatives from the city council. Through its plan, Arnold strives for continuous quality improvement of the community, with the goal of making Arnold a place that is known for its livability and age-friendliness for all of residents and visitors. The plan commits the city to connect with intergenerational communities, foster resident involvement, combat ageism, and create a great place for all residents to live, work and play.
Action Plan Highlights
Outdoor SpacesPrioritize walkability and safety features associated with complete streets policy and design.
TransportationPromote safe driving by conducting assessments through the use of a driving simulator and replacing standard street signs with modified signs for easier viewing at night.
HousingCreate more accessible housing by identifying resources for home modifications for older residents through financial assistance or community organizations, and implementing building ordinances identifying a percentage of homes to be built using universal design principles.
