Many older adults in Morrow County lacked access to practical emergency preparedness training, leaving homebound and isolated residents at greater risk during disasters. The project offered sessions in Heppner and Boardman led by the state's Community Preparedness Coordinator, providing participants with 3-day emergency kits and radios. Attendance exceeded expectations with full rooms and active engagement during the discussions. One site had to add extra seating showing how strong the need had become. The training boosted awareness, strengthened local involvement and set the stage for a two-week readiness program now being planned with partners.
