Description: The Great Bay Discovery Center serves to support land protection and research, as well as provide a space for learning about the Great Bay estuarine ecosystem. To make the space more welcoming, the Great Bay Stewards expanded the Center's accessible garden, adding a new sensory garden and an accessible swing. The Estuary Inclusion Garden now features a space where people with intellectual disabilities can experience the area through sight, sound, touch, taste and smell. The centerpiece of the garden is a blue heron sculpture created by a local artist and surrounded by grasses, flowers and herbs.

Description: Blind and visually impaired residents had few ways to experience live arts in Tampa. The Center introduced audio description for performances, trained describers, installed an assistive listening system and offered Braille brochures. It also hosted a tactile art exhibit and a Braille lecture during Blind Awareness Month. Two guests who attended one of the shows said they were "beyond thrilled" and took extra Braille brochures to share with their community.

Description: The Town Center Project wanted to revitalize Hebron's village green and create the kind of downtown people want to visit. To do this, they invited residents to Take a Seat in a dozen hand-painted Adirondack chairs installed in the historic village center. Local artists entered a competition to design the seating, which volunteers assembled. Each wood-slatted chair has its own look, ranging from African-themed designs to an under-the-sea concept. The village stores over the winter to protect them from snow, bringing them out every spring for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Windham, CT

Project Category: Park enhancements
Description: The project aimed to transform a neglected downtown park into a welcoming space for social connection. Grant funds provided four ADA-compliant tables and benches, giving residents a place to gather and linger. The new seating quickly became popular, inspiring momentum for a full redesign. A landscape architect is now developing plans for a vibrant community hub, and residents are already using the space for picnics and informal gatherings instead of just passing through.
