Description: Victoria Park's historic shopping plaza lacked shaded outdoor spaces and struggled after the pandemic, limiting mobility and social engagement. The project installed a colorful shade structure called "Stitch" and hosted cultural events to draw residents and visitors. These gatherings boosted foot traffic, supported local businesses and connected social services with unhoused individuals. One outreach leader said the effort helped move people into housing and "created proactive programs to decrease incidents."

Description: To allow for more community events in Veterans Memorial Park, the City of Central Falls purchased two canopies to shade visitors from the sun. The City then set up the all-weather canopies at a series of events held in the park, including a picnic, Zumba gatherings and ice cream socials. Project organizers say the canopies will allow them to expand outdoor programming aimed at older adult residents.
