Many caregivers age 50-plus struggle with stress and isolation while managing complex care tasks without training. To address this, the foundation launched classes on self-care, financial literacy and stress management, hosted an introductory event for 68 participants, and provided bilingual workshops. It also conducted 27 home safety evaluations and distributed emergency preparedness bags. Caregivers reported feeling supported and less alone, forming friendships that eased depression. One participant said, "I met a lot of people my age... It made me feel good knowing there were other people like me taking care of their parent."

Lighthouse launched a 12-week program with four pillars: healthy living through gardening and nutrition tips, financial literacy, caregiver advocacy and mental health support. Participants received food boxes, learned to grow produce and used a new self-care manual. One caregiver said the guide helped her advocate for a loved one after a stroke, calling it life-saving. The program will continue refining its approach to sustain impact.

The program strengthened caregiver confidence and built peer connections, with plans for annual sessions statewide. One participant said the resources arrived just in time to overcome stumbling blocks in their caregiving journey.

Description: The Love Garden at the Chinese Community Center is popular with Madison Heights residents. To make the space more accessible and welcoming, the Association of Chinese Americans expanded the garden with a greenhouse, gazebo and new benches. The greenhouse enables the organization to grow more plants and involve new community members, and serves as a service and storage area for the annual Healthy Gardening Fair. With its contemplative environment, the gazebo offers an inviting, safe gathering place for community members to gather for meditation, Tai-Chi and light exercise. Organizers hope the upgraded amenities help improve residents' physical and mental health.

Description: Older adults and people with disabilities struggled to enjoy outdoor spaces at the Senior Center because benches and tables were unsafe and inaccessible. The city replaced them with ADA-compliant picnic tables and benches on hard-surface paths, creating safe spots for socializing and respite near the arboretum. These upgrades complement major park investments and encourage older adults to gather outdoors and participate in programs. A spring Arbor Day event will showcase the improvements, reinforcing long-term plans for inclusive public spaces.
