Description: The city will install branded bike racks to improve accessibility for residents and visitors. The racks will enhance the community's downtown and parks, which host community festivals that attracts over 100,000 visitors annually.

Las Cruces, NM

Project Category: Bikeability

Description: To make its downtown more bike-friendly, the Downtown Las Cruces installed 40 bike tacks. Based on feedback from the local cycling community, project organizers painted the racks racer green. Engagement with local business owners and volunteers determined the best locations to place the racks. In the future, Downtown Las Cruces expects placemaking efforts to continue with new shade sails. The City of Las Cruces also has plans for a new green path to facilitate biking and walking.

Project Category: Park enhancements

Description: Lake City DIRT and town officials built a wood-framed pavilion in a park to house cultural, educational, recreational and community events. Construction finished in time for the pavilion to serve as an outdoor dining area during COVID-19 shutdowns in 2020. Since installation, project organizers have seen a 60 percent uptick in visitors in the area.

Description: This project will create a flower and vegetable garden with raised planting beds. Located at a restored historic building, the space will also include seating for community events.
