Action Plan Download
An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.
Action Plan Highlights
Respect and Inclusion
Focus on the social dynamics around aging by developing a positive aging campaign that involves all residents, creating an 'intergenerational connections program' to encourage people of all ages to meet and share experiences, and building a mentorship program with local school districts that connects older adults and students and facilitates intergenerational relationships.Communication and Information
Improve communications to the older adult community by launching a communication campaign that focuses on educating older adults about the benefits to utilizing all transportation options, collaborating, promoting, and sharing information on the local age-friendly initiative, evaluating the success of printed versus digital materials, and developing strategies for communicating and reaching out to different populations.Civic Participation and Employment
Partner with the local chamber of commerce to create a program for older adults to support volunteerism, training and education, while also working with local agencies and education facilities to develop and communicate opportunities for older adults to obtain new learning and skills-based opportunities for growth.
