Action Plan Download
An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.
Action Plan Highlights
Health and Community Services
The Age-Flourishing initiative aims to enhance senior health and wellbeing by setting up a dedicated working group. It will back local attempts to combat food insecurity and promote access to nutritious food and healthy habits. It plans to boost local and regional healthcare services, both physical and mental, and support the development of a dementia-friendly community. Additionally, the initiative will advocate for community wellness and health equity, striving for optimal health for all.Transportation
The Age-Flourishing initiative will create a Transportation & Mobility working group to enhance senior mobility. It aims to improve safety and accessibility of non-car transport, enhance community walkability, ensure sidewalk clearance, and increase bike-friendliness. It also plans to make door-to-door transportation more accessible and affordable, investigate ways to better senior access to downtown including parking, and optimize public transit access and safety.Social Participation
The Age-Flourishing initiative aims to bolster social and community engagement among seniors. To do this, it will form a dedicated working group, strive to create a more welcoming community through dialogue and activities, and map community resources to combat social isolation and loneliness. The program will also encourage educational and lifelong learning, foster senior employment and volunteering, expand intergenerational opportunities, and promote social and companionship activities.
