Action Plan Download
Shorewood developed its action plan as part of a multi-decade effort, with the ultimate goal of supporting residents' ability to age in their community. The plan focuses on issues that affect people of all ages, like sidewalk safety, which has an impact on residents in wheelchairs, and people pushing strollers. Through the plan, Shorewood vows to create more housing options for people with moderate incomes, improve walkability, develop neighborhood-based connections, activities and programs, and increase awareness of the existing Senior Resource Center, which helps older adults find, and gain access to, health and supportive services.
Action Plan Highlights
Outdoor Spaces
Enhance walkability and bikeability by focusing on key problem areas for pedestrians, exploring the development of protected bike lanes, and building a bike boulevard.Housing
Create a housing workgroup to develop innovative housing options like a homeshare program that matches graduate students with older adults, co-housing, tiny houses, and ADUs.
