Action Plan Download
Roanoke has developed its action plan as a collaboration between the city and numerous partner organizations. The plan is mindful of the mission and goals of partner organizations, and is also aligned with the city of Roanoke's strategic plans. The initiative is focused on three primary goals to expand understanding of the issues facing older adults and raise awareness of need; to build community capacity to respond to the needs of older adults; to build sustainable relationships and interventions for older adults.
Action Plan Highlights
Communication and Information
Advocate for the needs of older residents at both the local and state level by creating and disseminating resources specific to older adults.Health and Community Services
Focus on positive health outcomes for often-overlooked older adult populations such as people of color, LGBTQ, immigrants and grandparents raising grandchildren.Transportation
Identify resident needs and facilitate change at the neighborhood level by providing new stakeholder resources, such as information on transportation options and financial services, to older adults.
