National City developed its action plan by supporting existing values and planning efforts already in place in the community rather than duplicating them. The action plan reflects a review of over a dozen existing city plans and resources, identifying areas of overlap with the eight domains of livability.

Create a safe and comfortable travel experience for all mode types, ages and abilities by increasing providing safe, maintained and well-connected bicycle facilities to increase bicycle ridership, creating a more accessible and safe public transportation experience for all residents, applying traffic calming measures to improve the pedestrian experience and providing more transportation-specific education through workshops and informational strategies.Housing
Grow the affordable housing stock and expand alternative living options so residents can safetly age in place.Respect and Inclusion
Increase citywide awareness around the impacts of age, disability and isolation, and bolster social connections to reduce isolation through citywide programming.
