Action Plan

An action plan is based on the results of community surveys identifying needs within the 8 Domains of Livability that influence the health and quality of life of older adults. While there is flexibility in how a plan is created and what it will do, every action plan includes a statement about what can be achieved, target dates for goal completion, identification of participating organizations and indicators to measure progress. The action plan is an "active" rather than static document. Revisions and amendments are a sign of program improvement and progress.

Action Plan Highlights

  1. Transportation

    Update Livingston's Complete Streets policy with the goals of adding green infrastructure to manage stormwater runoff and improving pedestrian and bicycle safety through traffic calming interventions.

  2. Outdoor Spaces

    Create outdoor gathering spaces -- including parklets -- by providing seating. Develop walking paths and an arboretum or community garden.

  3. Outdoor Spaces

    Identify opportunities for businesses to share parking, enabling residents to park and walk from destination to destination.

Progress Report Download

The Township of Livingston's progress report focuses on efforts to increase accessibility at the local senior center, help older adults get around and bridge the digital divide. The senior center grounds received a new game room, an outdoor pavilion and accessible walking paths. Additionally, the Township purchased a wheelchair-accessible van to transport older adults to medical appointments and errands. The Township also launched a technology training program, where local high school students help older residents navigate their digital devices.

Description: This project will create a walking loop to improve pedestrian safety for commuters and park visitors. In addition, volunteers will plant trees, shrubs and flowers to restore the park's historic entryway.
