East Lansing developed its action plan in collaboration with hundreds of residents, practitioners, business representatives, and non-profit community leaders. The goal of the city's plan is to provide residents of all ages with easy access to walkable streets, diverse housing and transportation options, and public service assistance, as well as facilitate the participation of older adults in community activities. The plan prioritizes expanding on existing community features, including community events, older adult activities, public parks and facilities, and aging in place programs.
