Action Plan Download
Chula Vista developed its action plan through a city council resolution to address its rapidly aging population. The plan commits to increasing park usage, targeted community engagement and access to safe, environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation. In addition, the action plan calls on the city to provide resources and education to promote aging in place.
Action Plan Highlights
Housing
Address a range of housing challenges, such as crime prevention, fall prevention, conservation measures, social isolation, and health and safety issues through a comprehensive home audit program. Increase the availability of affordable housing options through tiny houses, ADUs, universal design, and higher density neighborhoods.Transportation
Address pedestrian safety, bike safety, and access issues by increasing participation of older adults in upcoming master planning updates, specifically focusing on first mile/last mile, bikeshare programs, rest areas between transit stops, safe routes to school, and traffic signal synchronization.
