The Allegany County Age-Friendly Communities Coalition (AFAC) aims to improve the quality of life of older adults by reducing social isolation, increasing independence, providing safe access to outdoor recreational programs, ensuring safety at home and in the community, and improving health care accessibility. The coalition will create new social opportunities, assess physical environments, foster collaborations between organizations, and enhance community infrastructure. The goals were ranked based on impact, feasibility, and political and community support. By 2025, AFAC intends to achieve these goals to improve the well-being of Allegany County residents.

Social Participation
The Allegany County Age-Friendly Action Plan aims to reduce social isolation in older adults and improve their social, mental, physical, and psychological well-being. It includes goals such as increasing physical activity opportunities, organizing low-cost field trips and intergenerational activities, and offering life-long learning opportunities for older adults to improve brain health and socialization.Communication and Information
The plan aims to increase technology access and literacy among older adults. It includes developing technology workshops, creating a loan closet for technology devices, providing one-on-one assistance, advocating for affordable broadband and internet service, and executing a marketing plan to inform older adults and caregivers about the loan closet.Transportation
The goals related to transportation and mobility include: improving walkability and assessing environmental factors that limit it, increasing access to assistive devices, promoting driver safety, exploring ride-sharing programs, enhancing public transportation and travel training, reassessing communities using AARP Walkability Tool, and increasing the number of volunteer drivers.
