The project built a durable shade structure with two ADA-compliant picnic tables near a playground, skate and bike park and open field, creating a cooler, welcoming spot for all ages. Volunteers also repaired a ballpark dugout and extended a concrete slab to improve accessibility. Families now use the shaded area for gatherings, and older adults enjoy a safe place to connect while watching activities. Description: Folker Park is a 2-acre urban forest located within the city of Anchorage. The park is adjacent to intergenerational living facilities and in the past was used by people of all ages. However, many of the park's volunteer caretakers have stopped routine maintenance, leaving many areas overgrown and essentially unusable. To improve the park, the Anchorage Park Foundation installed six outdoor musical instruments, a reflexology footpath, a healing maze and age-accessible fitness equipment. They also gathered volunteers to weed garden beds, pick up trash and plant flowers. Today, the park a central hub for the community once again, and a source of pride for residents.

Description: To keep residents of all ages active, this project set out to update outdoor fitness trails, providing space for people of all ages to engage with each other. Camai Community Center developed a summer walking path and winter ski trail. To offer the community an intergenerational activity, the organization created a story walk, which features pages of a storybook displayed in succession along the pathway. They then hosted invited local elders groups to walk the path with preschool children and read to them.

"We feel the sky is the limit on the number of classes as well as the subject matter that will take place in this space," the county noted.
