Description: Older adults reentering society after incarceration faced steep barriers, from food insecurity to lack of digital skills needed for jobs and services. The project delivered 12 digital literacy trainings to more than 209 participants, distributed laptops to those without devices and expanded food distribution for stability. These efforts built confidence and independence, enabling older adults to navigate technology and connect with resources. "We have helped hundreds of our local seniors, including myself," said one participant, underscoring the projects lasting impact.

Project Category: Innovative home maintenance, repair and support services

Description: As Portland's housing costs climb, hundreds of households living in manufactured housing parks are at risk of losing their homes. To help residents with home upkeep, Verde provided critical home repairs to seven mobile homes in the Cully neighborhood. The repairs addressed health and safety issues impacting low-income older adults, people with disabilities and families with children. Additionally, the work provided an opportunity for experienced volunteers to share their skills with residents who are new to home repair.

Description: This project will upgrade computer hardware and install Wi-Fi at three affordable housing properties for residents age 55-plus. It will also provide monthly computer skills training to help residents improve their internet and Google-Suite skills.
