Action Plan Download
West Hollywood developed its action plan to help the city evolve as acommunity where aging is embraced, and where people can remain in the housing of their choice for as long as they choose, regardless of age, income, or ability level. The plan builds on the city's existing policies and programs, such as arts and cultural events, lifespan-friendly housing, senior services, and other approaches to wellness, while responding to the demographic trend of people living longer and wanting to age independently in their homes.
Action Plan Highlights
TransportationIncrease pedestrian crosswalk safety through longer walk signals, pedestrian islands with crosswalk cue buttons, and additional no-right-turn on red rules.
HousingRehabilitate aging housing stock by addressing outdated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, while adding adaptive elements like ramps, grab bars, lighting, and security systems.
Communication and InformationCombat social isolation by identifying older adult needs through community groups and organizations, and develop one-on-one support systems that help older residents ask for help in positive and productive ways.
