Sunnyvale developed its action plan as an opportunity to assess its existing programs and learn about gaps in services or duplication of efforts with other community partners. The action plan's goals are to create a safe, accessible city for all ages improve mobility options for older adults provide an avenue for older adults' input on future housing policies and projects increase the variety of opportunities and programs that meet the diverse needs and culture of older adults decrease the stigma of aging and ensure that older adults remain engaged promote and increase opportunities that utilize the contributions and skills of older adults improve communication strategies that will increase dissemination of information to more residents provide services and programs that support aging in place ensure that older adults are aware of, and included in, emergency preparedness operations adapt services and programs to support the changing needs of the city's population increase access and use of technology.

Transportation
Assess walkability in different parts of the community by utilizing pedestrian advocates, while also looking for opportunities to gather input from older adults on streets and sidewalks. -
Housing
Facilitate home repairs by developing a list of vetted repair providers, along with a system to identify and review new repair providers. -
Communication and Information
Increase the availability of information on services and resources for older adults by publicizing 2-1-1 as an information resource and displaying information in diverse locations around the community.
