Santa Clarita developed its action plan using its community master plan as a guide, focusing on the creative, orderly development and management of parks, recreation facilities, programs and open space for older adults. The community has focused on acquiring additional parkland and open space, improving trail connectivity, and increasing resident access to recreational facilities, including basketball courts, sports fields, playgrounds, community centers, open spaces and trails.
Action Plan Highlights
Outdoor SpacesReinvest in existing parks and facilities by making enhancements to maximize comfort and convenience for the community, incorporating more fitness elements, walking paths, and shade into park spaces. Increase gathering spaces for community use that can be adjusted with shifts in user needs and trends.
Respect and InclusionEnhance facilities for multi-functional use and multi-generational programming.
Communication and InformationEngage older residents and promote city programs, events, and park amenities by creating mobile apps and implementing a new marketing plan.
