Action Plan Download
Alexandria's action plan aims to be more inclusive for aging communities of color people of different gender identities, sexual orientation, nationalities, and cultures and those with disabilities. Alexandria will increase its affordable housing stock, as well as prevent the unnecessary institutionalization of older adults by giving residents of Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities an increased awareness of programs and services supportive of older adults. Alexandria is also building on its Vision Zero policy, hosting new walkability audits with community groups, and ensuring that school zones are safe. Alexandria is aiming to be a dementia-friendly city, in which the city will be increasing support for caregivers, expanding access to therapists, and strengthening mental health management services for older adults.
